They provide advice, issue guidance, [[Environmental Permits]] for a range of activities and exemptions from permitting.
 
They also collect and collate data as part of an operator's statutory duty to provide Quarterly Data Returns on the activity that they are managing and/or operating. These data returns are inputted onto their [[Waste Interrogater]] tool which is available as part of the Open Government Licence.
