The Hazardous Waste Regulations 2005, as amended perform the following functions:

Replaces the Special Waste Regulations 1996.

Provides definition of hazardous waste. (See also The List of Wastes (England) Regulations 2005)

Regulates safe management of hazardous waste.

Sets out requirement for cradle to grave documentation of movement of hazardous waste.

Collectors of hazardous waste must keep thorough records and provide the Environment Agency with quarterly returns^[1].
