Commercial Waste is defined within s75 of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 as "waste from premises used wholly or mainly for the purposes of a trade or business or the purposes of sport, recreation or entertainment."

Like the other elements of Controlled Waste the waste is derived from the type of organisation that it originates from.

Commercial Waste arisings are often reported alongside Industrial Waste arisings given the similarity between the waste types. Commercial and Industrial Waste outlines the latest set of published data on tonnage arisings of both Commercial and Industrial Waste in England and throughout the UK.
