Summary

Tilbury Green Power Limited (TGP) is a renewable power plant fuelled by waste wood located within the Port of Tilbury on the banks of the River Thames[1]. The plant has a capacity of around 40 MW and produces up to 319,000 MWh of renewable electricity each year which supplies on average, around 97,000 homes[1].

The plant uses around 270,000 tonnes of waste wood per annum[1].

The Tilbury Green Power Plant was developed by Tilbury Green Power Limited, the major shareholders of whom are Electricity Supply Board (ESB) and the UK Green Investment Bank. Burmeister and Wain Scandinavian Contractor (BWSC) and AET are minor shareholders[1]. Senior debt funding was provided by the Danish Export Credit Agency (Eksport Kredit fonden), Investec and Rabobank[2].

Plant

The construction of the plant commenced in August 2015 following completion of site preparation works which began in May 2015. The plant became fully operational in January 2019[1]
